Clamping flush-mounted boxes for Residential Building Taxi

The Stationskwartier in Veenendaal is undergoing significant developments, with the outdated industrial areas making way for a lively new residential area with a varied range of homes and apartments. As part of this project, Industrielaan 2 to 10 is located, where contractor KUDO BV is currently realizing three apartment complexes with a total of 154 apartments. The complexes 'De Verbinding' and 'De Snip' have already been completed, while construction of the 'Taxi' building, with 71 apartments, started in February 2023.

WB Installation was engaged by KUDO BV to carry out all electrical installations in this apartment complex, from wall sockets, switches and light points to fire controls and solar panels. For these installations, all switching materials are fitted into the new U50 flush-mounted boxes from Attema.

WB Installation is one of the pioneers that uses these updated U50 flush-mounted boxes. Maikel Kas, work planner and project leader at WB Installation, emphasizes the advantages of the duo boxes. "In the past we used flush-mounted boxes from another brand, but these turned out to be less sturdy, especially when mounting in sand-lime brick walls. The U50 flush-mounted boxes from Attema have solved this problem. The clamping of the new Attema boxes is so effective that the technicians can now work more efficiently This has saved us significant time. Since this technology is available for both duo boxes and single flush-mounted boxes, we now use both solutions. This allows us to work with one uniform system and brand for all our flush-mounted boxes."

Current projects

WB Installation is currently carrying out two projects with the updated U50 flush-mounted boxes. Approximately 300 duo boxes and 600 single boxes are installed in a housing project in Bilthoven. No fewer than 350 duo boxes and 2,300 single boxes are used in the Taxi building in Veenendaal, in which wall sockets, switches and actors for wireless installations are placed. These flush-mounted boxes are installed in sand-lime brick and gib walls and are also suitable for materials such as aerated concrete, according to Jan Tabak, technical advisor at Attema. "The flush-mounted boxes are firmly attached to almost any brick wall."

Flexibility and ease to use

An important feature of the new flush-mounted boxes is the flexible spout, Tabak emphasizes. "Although most millers and drillers work accurately, it may happen that the slot does not fit perfectly with the drill hole. Previously, the installer had to cut away a piece to make the connection. With the new boxes, this is no longer necessary, because the flexible spout can be moved up to 30° to the left or right, allowing the installer to easily connect the box even in such situations." Kas also emphasizes flexibility in terms of pipe diameters. "Nowadays, different diameters of pre-wired pipes are used, for which the new flush-mounted box is suitable. The boxes are supplied with M 3×20 screws, allowing them to be interconnected and the spouts are interchangeable, which offers maximum flexibility."

About the new flush-mounted boxes

More and more clamping installation is being done, but especially with sand-lime brick the clamping effect was difficult and quick plaster still had to be used. That means extra labor and extra costs. The new flush-mounted boxes from Attema are immediately secured to the wall: in plaster blocks, aerated concrete and sand-lime brick. That makes a world of difference.
