AGRO Progress® – safe to use in rail vehicles

Every day, millions of people worldwide travel on trains, trams, suburban railways and underground systems. To ensure they arrive safely and without worry, every technical detail – right down to the smallest component – must be carefully considered.

Progress® cable glands with a special sealing insert for rail vehicles help ensure that passengers can use public transport with complete peace of mind. Following successful certification in accordance with the EU standard EN 45545-2 (HL 3), which governs preventive fire protection across Europe, AGRO has become the first company worldwide to test theProgress® metal cable glands in accordance with the US NFPA 130 standard.

Best results in tests in accordance with EN 45545-2 (components)

The sealing inserts forthe Progress® cable gland are made from a special TPE and are certified to the most demanding Hazard Level 3 standard. The required values for Hazard Level 3 were significantly exceeded in both outdoor and indoor environments.

Exceeds the requirements of EN 45545-3!

EN 45545-3 defines the fire resistance requirements for fire-resistant penetrations. The aim of EN 45545-3 is to limit the spread of fire through material requirements. When cables are routed through fire-resistant penetrations, these requirements also apply to cable glands.

To determine whether the required fire resistance is achieved, the components are tested in a test furnace with regard to the criteria of room separation, thermal insulation and radiant heat emission.
AGRO Progress® metal cable glands far exceed the requirements of EN 45545-3 and achieve the very high fire resistance class E30. This means that the sealing inserts remain watertight for at least 30 minutes and prevent the spread of flames to the side facing away from the fire. No gaps form. From a fire safety perspective, they can be used without hesitation in all rail vehicles.
