Electrical installations for fire protection

Box, housing and bulkhead systems for fire protection walls and ceilings.

Structural fire protection measures are designed to contain fire and smoke in the event of a fire, ensuring that emergency routes remain usable. Electrical installations, in particular, can compromise the fire resistance of walls and ceilings. With KAISER fire protection systems, the fire resistance class is maintained despite the installation of electrical equipment – tested and certified, without the need for costly encasing, filling or caulking work.

Fire safety technology. | Legal requirements.

Due to Germany’s federal system , building regulations are the responsibility of the individual federal states. The Working Group of Ministries Responsible for Construction (ARGEBAU) draws up joint model regulations, which are adopted by the federal states as laws, ordinances or guidelines – in some cases with adaptations. The basis for structural fire protection is Section 14 of the Model Building Code (MBO). The requirements of the Building Codes and German regional building codes are further specified by decrees, technical building regulations and building control standards.

The German regional building codes generally distinguish between
  • buildings of a standard type or use (e.g. residential buildings) and
  • buildings of a special type or use (e.g. industrial buildings, places of assembly or hospitals)
Fire protection in accordance with standards is therefore not only a legal obligation, but also a key prerequisite for safety and the avoidance of liability.

  • HWD 68+ fire protection boxes

    Safe installation in drywall construction.
The new generation of KAISER fire protection boxes combines all the features of the HWD 68 and HWD 90. Furthermore, with their conduit entries, they cover all practical applications. Thanks to the tried-and-tested AFS technology, the HWD 68+ also guarantees a fire resistance duration of F30–F90 or EI30–EI90. The HWD 68+ also meets the fire resistance duration F30-B–F90-B in timber-frame and timber-panel construction, as well as in cross-laminated timber (CLT) construction. The HWD 68+ enables virtually unrestricted and universal electrical installation in fire protection walls.

Products for solid walls

  • Flush-mounting fire protection box

The innovative fire protection box for flush-mounting installation in solid fire protection walls maintains the fire resistance duration of the fire protection wall from EI30 to EI120, despite the electrical installation embedded within it.
The flush-mounting fire protection box ensures a secure and smokeproof closure for the fire protection wall, even if, in the case of opposing or one-sided installation, the residual wall thickness falls below the 60 mm required by DIN 4102-4. This is made possible by AFS technology. This involves a fire-retardant coating that intumesces within a very short time in the event of a fire. In this way, it automatically seals the installation openings and maintains the wall’s fire resistance. The spread of smoke and fire through the installation openings is thus reliably prevented.

    • For fire protection walls EI30 – EI120
    • For minimum remaining wall thicknesses of 60 mm or less
    • Also suitable for installation directly opposing the previous installation
    • Can be installed in combination

    • Can be used as a junction box with a fire protection cover
  • Fire protection one-gang junction box, solid wood, PROTECT®

For toolless installation in solid timber elements
Thanks to the rib fixing system and innovative wire entries, standardised installation is possible without the need for additional milling – even in solid timber elements of high-quality, visible-grain timber. The well-thought-out arrangement of the innovative wire entries allows for flexible cable routing and reliably compensates for tolerances in the cable path. At the same time, the fire resistance duration of the solid timber element, ranging from F30-B to F120-B, is fully maintained without the need for additional enclosures.

    • Maintains fire resistance duration from F30-B to F120-B
    • For installation directly opposing the one opposite
    • Toolless installation via clamping rib fastening
    • Innovative wire entry allows for tolerance compensation in the cable route
    • Simple, toolless wire entry up to Ø 11.5 mm
    • For installation openings of Ø 74 mm
    • Preserves the sound insulation properties of the solid timber elements

Cable routing

  • Fire sealing

Certified wire feed-through through cavity walls, masonry and concrete
Fire sealing is always required when electric cables or conduits are routed through cavity walls, masonry or concrete with a defined fire resistance class. Only by professionally sealing the openings can the wall’s fire resistance class be maintained and the spread of fire and smoke reliably prevented.

KAISER fire sealing offers a quick, safe and certified solution for this purpose. There is no need for time-consuming and messy work involving fire protection putty, foams, mortar or coatings, and installation is extremely straightforward.

The sealing systems automatically seal off joints and gaps between cables, can be covered again without causing damage, and are suitable for individual electric cables or installation conduits as well as for cable bundles and mixed configurations.

The LS 90 cable seal and the RS 90 conduit seal can be fitted in just a few simple steps. Once the installation opening has been created, the flexible seal is inserted. For retrofitting, it can be opened and guided over existing electric cables or conduits. It is also possible to arrange several seals in a group.

    • Safe, visible and certified fire sealing
    • Suitable for the passage and routing of electric cables, installation conduits and bundles, including mixed installations
    • Clean installation without the need for filling or smoothing
    • Self-sealing of joints and gaps between cables
    • Non-destructive retrofitting possible
