Installation solutions for external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS)
Electrical installations suitable for all common types and thicknesses of insulation material.
Future-proof building technology combines architecture, functionality and energy efficiency. With forward-thinking planning, intelligent technology and suitable materials, energy savings can be achieved in line with the EU Buildings Directive and national regulations. KAISER products support compliance with the Building Energy Act (GEG) and enable thermal bridge-free, air-tight electrical installations – even with retrofitted internal insulation – whilst providing reliable protection against moisture damage.
Fundamentals and Installation
Fundamentals | Legislation and Technology.
Energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important in new builds and renovations. Since 2016, stricter requirements have been in force for insulation, heat protection and air tightness (EnEV, DIN 4108-7). The EU Directive on Energy Performance of Buildings has been implemented in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The energy performance certificate assesses energy losses, is mandatory when selling or letting a property, and provides transparent information on consumption and efficiency, offering greater certainty and convenience when making property decisions.
Air-tight and thermal bridge-free electrical installations.
A heat-insulating, air-tight building shell in accordance with DIN 4108 protects the building structure from damp and mildew, as warm air does not condense on cool surfaces. In cavity or lightweight walls, moisture retardant foils or OSB panels act as the air-tight layer; in solid construction, this role is fulfilled by the interior plaster. Electrical installations must not damage these; electric cable and conduit entries must comply with DIN 60670-1. KAISER offers air-tight, thermal bridge-free solutions for cavity walls, Flush-mounting and internal insulation in accordance with DIN 18015-5.
Installation without heat bridges. Secure fixing of equipment in or to external wall insulation.
The quality of external wall insulation depends on the continuity of the insulation and the prevention of heat bridges. Extensions such as balconies or external installations such as sockets, luminaires, motion detectors or letterboxes pose risks of heat loss and building damage. KAISER offers secure, thermal bridge-free fixings for electrical appliances and components in ETICS, even as a retrofit. Thermography reveals weak spots. The thicker the insulation, the more serious the heat bridges.
Verification. Air tightness and absence of thermal bridges.
With rising energy prices, energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important for new builds and renovations. Since 2020, the Building Energy Act (GEG) has tightened the requirements for primary energy demand and, from 2024, will mandate the use of renewable energy in new heating systems. Thermal insulation and air tightness are key requirements. The energy performance certificate assesses energy losses and is mandatory when selling, letting or leasing a property. EU directives have been implemented in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
